Sandhurst Nursery School

Passion. Experience. Consistency.

About Us

We are a friendly well-established Nursery School based in the heart of Sandhurst, within the grounds of Sandhurst Primary School. We have always had very close links with the primary school and this year two of our Trustees are the Headteacher of the School, Mrs Norman, and the Reception Class Teacher, Mrs Reeves.  For more information about the primary school please go to their website

Our aim is to provide children with a safe and happy environment where they can learn many skills, incorporating the 7 areas of development for children aged 0-5 years covered by the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum. We are happy to accept children from ages 12 months to 5 years and offer term time only childcare.

We are a registered charity with a voluntary board of trustees, usually parents or interested members of the community, who run and manage the business side of the Nursery School. Parents are also asked to get involved and help with fund raising too, to read more on this please see our Fundraising section. We believe this helps to sustain the strong community feel of our Nursery group and may be why we recently celebrated our 40th anniversary.

We provide a safe and secure setting for all children in a modern building with hours to suit all needs of parents, carers and children. We are constantly monitoring and improving our setting to maintain a high quality service for the local community.

Sandhurst Nursery School has been open since 1975, to read more about our history please read here.

As we face the numerous hurdles in our everchanging and uncertain world, I am pleased to say that we continue to adapt around adversities and have managed to maintain a Safe, Warm, Friendly and Lively environment for all who are placed in our care. An ideal environment in which our experienced and dedicated staff can nurture and develop each child toward their full potential.

Situated adjacent to the Community Primary School, were are naturally seen as their ‘feeder’. We work closely with them on many levels and this proximity and familiarity provides an ideal springboard for those making the transition to Reception Class.

I look forward to welcoming you to our Nursery.

Meet the team

Nursery Manager

Angela Writer (Fda)

I have worked in the early years sector for almost 30 years and in 2010 I passed and now hold an Early Years Foundation Degree. I first started at Sandhurst Nursery School in 2003 and after taking 18 months to explore other childcare profession roles and environments in 2011, I returned in September 2012 as the Human Resources and Development Officer. I have now returned to my original role of Manager and I, with the support of all the nursery team, am looking forward to taking the nursery into the next exciting phase of it's future.

Charles joined the nursery as a parent in 2005 and soon became very involved in the running of the nursery as a voluntary committee member. The committee eventually became a board of trustees with Charles at the helm. Charles has remained as Chairperson of the Trustee Management Team since that date and tirelessly gives up his time on a voluntary basis to support, encourage and advise everyone involved in the running of the nursery.
